Ruth Clowater, missionary and director of SIGA Ministry Partners, comes to speak to us today.
Last week we looked at Jesus' hard-hitting, cross-cultural story of the Good Samaritan, where Luke showed his readers that love is an action verb that extends to people who are different than us. This week he shares a story about 'not doing' and how to view everyone who is 'in' the family of God. Join Pastor Greg as he shares some life lessons from Mary and Martha.
An expert in the law, trying to expose Jesus' liberal views, questions him about how far out one's love should reach to others. In this familiar passage Jesus reveals that love for others has no boundaries. Join Pastor Greg as he shares how Jesus closes all of our loopholes we give for restricting our love.
The 72 disciples return from their mission that Jesus sent them out on, and they are pumped up! Jesus, too, is excited, and the group shares an incredible experience of joy. Join Pastor Greg as he shares from this passage how we can be lifted up above our current circumstances so we can experience joy in our life.
Jesus has laid down the qualifications of those who with to follow him (Luke 9.23) and warned them about distractions to discipleship (9.57-62). As he sets out for Jerusalem and his impending death, he recruits several disciples to go out ahead of him and gives them instructions to prepare the people for his coming. Join Pastor Greg as he shares how this mission is for modern-day disciples and how we can fulfill Jesus' mission for us.
On his last night with the disciples, Jesus tells them that he is going away and that they will be staying around to continue his work. This is not what they expected. They are confused and have questions including one from Philip: "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." Join Pastor Greg as he shares how Jesus reassures his disciples, and us, with the promise of the Holy Spirit.
