Isaiah is prophesying destruction against the people because of their unfaithfulness and turning to the pagan nation of Assyria for help instead of waiting on God. In this passage, Isaiah reveals that Assyria is actually a tool that God uses to bring punishment and to correct his people. However, God will not totally destroy his but that a remnant will survive who will turn back to God. Join Pastor Greg as he shares how we can become remnant-minded people.

Isaiah prophesies that the rebellion of the nation Judah against God will lead to the doom and gloom of war and exile. However, chapter 9 points to a new beginning. Isaiah tells the people that a new day is coming when there will be no more war and God's people are led by an ideal ruler, A Messiah, who is the true light. The Gospel writer Matthew uses these words from Isaiah to show his readers that Jesus is the fulfillment of that prophecy.

Last week we examined how King Ahaz failed to wait on the Lord but made plans for an unhealthy alliance with a neighboring pagan nation. In chapter 8, God turns his attention to the people of Judah who, like their king, are caught up in the political machinations of the time. They have failed to consult and place their trust in the Lord their God. Join Pastor Greg as he shares how God offers the people of Judah another chance, and how they respond will determine their experience of him moving forward.

Ahaz, the king of Judah, has a decision to make. Make an unholy alliance with one of God's enemies or stay put and trust God to work things out. The prophet Isaiah advised Ahaz that, "if you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." (Isaiah 7.9). Join Pastor Greg as he shares how a strong faith in God can guide us through difficult times. What can we do to strengthen our faith to enable us to overcome those times when our faith is lacking.

Isaiah 6 reveals Isaiah's call to be God's prophet. In this heavenly encounter, Isaiah's confidence hits rock bottom as he feels guilty and undone in this midst of God's glorious majesty. But God restores Isaiah and calls him to deliver a message to God's people--a message that will not be readily received. Isaiah goes from being ruined to ready. Join Pastor Greg as he shares how God is ready to use us, despite our flaws and shortcomings, to deliver his message to a skeptical, apathetic world.

Isaiah sings a song about God and his people using the imagery of a vineyard. The song begins wonderfully but the it (and the grapes) turn sour as Isaiah prophecies destruction ahead for God's people. Join Pastor Greg as he share how Jesus adopts the imagery of Isaiah' song to share with his disciples how they can avoid the path of their forebears and have a fruitful life.
