Week 4: Impacting the World

Matthew 28.16-29, Acts 1.6-11

There are a few essentials that are holding us up, supporting us as a church. If they are not there, we are missing a critical part of who we are called to be as the people of God. Join Pastor Greg as he shares these essentials found in Jesus' teachings in Matthew 22 and 28. At Beaver Dam, we call these our four pillars.

Politics is everywhere, and it has a way of stirring up strong opinions, dividing people, and competing for our loyalty. But what if, instead of allowing our politics to shape the way we follow Jesus, we allowed Jesus to challenge--and shape--the way we do politics? Join Pastor Greg as he shows us through Luke's account of Jesus entering Jerusalem how this can be done.

It's possible to be close to Jesus, cheer for Jesus, and even call ourselves followers of Jesus--and still miss who he really is and what he is doing right in front of us. As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the cheering crowd reminds us to ask an important question: What are we missing?

What do you do when the boss is away and no one seems to be watching? In Luke 19.11-27, Jesus reminds us that our King may seem to be away, but he has given us work to do---and one day he return to see what we've done with what he entrusted to us.

Zacchaeus had everything the world said should make him happy--wealth, success, position--yet something inside told him there had to be more. He was lost, and knew something needed to change. Then one day Jesus came through town and Zacchaeus saw an opportunity. Join Pastor Greg as he shares what Zacchaeus did shows us what it looks like for the lost to be found.

As Jesus makes his way toward Jerusalem, he reveals what lies ahead--but his disciples still cannot see what he is trying to show them. Join Pastor Greg as he shares how Luke shows us that sometimes the greatest blindness isn't in our eyes, but in our inability to see who Jesus is, what he can do, and the life he offers us.

In today's scripture we read about a man who comes to Jesus with some assumptions about how life is to be lived. Much to the man's chagrin, Jesus sets the man straight telling him what he lacks in this life. Join Pastor Greg as he shares how Jesus challenges all of us to examine our life to find the one thing we lack in a deep relationship with God.
