The first session of our Zoom mid-week bible study following N.T. Wright's book God and the Pandemic. This week looks at people's response to the pandemic and compares how people responded to large disaster in the ancient world. We also looked at how the early Christians responded to such events based on their relationship to Jesus. We discussed the importance of asking "What" questions instead of "Why" questions. This week looks at how the Hebrew people of the Old Testament viewed and responded to disasters as they occurred. We learn about the importance of "Lament" and discuss how Jesus stands between God and humanity and how he is the example of how to overcome injustice in a sinful world.
